A hike full of diversity of landscapes: from high Andean lakes to the hot microclimate of the Sacred Valley. We start from the Sacred Valley or from Cusco and head to Taucca. From there, we start our ascent on a regular basis until we reach some lakes and eventually the pass. This is the highest point of the day (4,450m), we have to walk slow. Our reward is an incredible panorama over the Vilcabamba mountain range. We start going down until we reach the archeological site of Huchuy Qosqo (“the little Cusco”). On the way down, we appreciate strong changes in vegetation and climate. We take our time to visit the archeological site before sitting down and having a picnic lunch. We then walk down till Lamay, located in the Sacred Valley.
